Your camping guide
Setting up, using and repacking your Camplete kit - plus a few tips for an easy first night outdoors.
Before you leave home
- Book your campsite and check its facilities
- Test your lighting and pack chargers
- Check the weather and fire-danger rating
- Pack personal items: clothes, food, water, meds
Setting up camp - the right order
- Choose a flat spot, clear of rocks and low ground
- Tent first - peg at 45°, use every guy rope in wind
- Bedding next - inflate pads with a slight give
- Living area and lighting last
Your camp kitchen
- Use the stove outdoors only, on a flat, stable surface
- Align the canister notch before locking it in
- Never leave a lit stove unattended
- Let everything cool before packing away
Total fire bans override everything - check the NSW RFS and your campground's rules before cooking. If in doubt, don't light it.
Around camp
- Fill your water container on arrival
- Keep the first aid kit somewhere everyone can find
- Set clear rules for kids around the stove
- Leave your site cleaner than you found it
Packing up - protect your gear
- The golden rule: everything must be bone dry before packing
- Shake out the tent; deflate pads from the far end
- Cool the stove, remove the canister, pack separately
- Repack in reverse order - it all fits
